Glass is an American superhero thriller film written, co-produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film is a continuation of the previous films of Shyamalan, Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016), which form the Unbreakable series, also known as the “Eastrail 177” trilogy. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard will reprise their roles as Unbreakable, while James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy will return as their characters from Split, [6] with Sarah Paulson and Adam David Thompson joining emit.

While there was interest in creating a sequel to Unbreakable after its release, Touchstone Pictures opted not to fund one at that time despite the strong performance of the film’s box office. Shyamalan started writing Split using a character he had written for Unbreakable but removed from the script due to balance problems. Shyamalan realized the opportunity he had to create a trilogy of works and adapted the end of Split to establish the film as part of the unbreakable narrative. This included obtaining the rights to use the character of Disney’s Willis Unbreakable, with the promise of including them in the production and distribution of this third film along with Universal Pictures in case it is made. Split was a financial and critical success, and in April 2017, Shyamalan announced that the production process for Glass had begun.

Universal Pictures presented the first major trailer of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on Friday with a full look at the highly anticipated Cup of M. Night Shyamalan. Shyamalan, a filmmaker known for his ingenious twists, delivered his biggest until the end of the 2016 division.

It was revealed that the star of James McAvoy was a continuation of Shyamalan’s Unbreakable (2000) and earned a gross profit of 278.5 million. dollars around the world with a budget of $ 9 million.

James McAvoy

Shyamalan’s plans for a final chapter became clear after the success of Split, and viewers were rewarded with the knowledge that a trilogy that many believed would never materialize would eventually be completed. While Unbreakable did not encounter the instant success of his previous film, The Sixth Sense (1999), Shyamalan’s deconstruction of the US superhero / villainous complex through an intricate and restrained thriller has become a classic of worship over the years. In the midst of the current explosion of superhero movies, Shyamalan’s films are more prophetic than ever. Joining the Unbreakable and Split releases, Glass sees Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy as a team for what may be Shyamalan’s most complex film.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Faithful to its form, Shyamalan’s trailer opens up by connecting us to the real world. The stakes of the film are presented by a new character in the world of Shyamalan, Dr. Ellie Staple (Sarah Paulson), a psychologist who specializes in the treatment of patients with delusions of superheroes and villains. She says it’s a growing field, and we learn that her patients are none other than Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy) and David Dunn (Bruce Willis). The last time we saw Crumb and Dunn, both men were free, apparently directed toward an inevitable conflict between them. It remains to be seen how they end up in the care of Dr. Staple. Since Shyamalan is known for his aesthetics and telegraphy his subjects through images, it is worth noting that Crumb is located between Price and Dunn, and not only highlights the location of Split within the trilogy, but also the psychological problem of Crumb to be caught between heroism and villainy. Result of their multiple personalities.

In the years since the Unbreakable events, David Dunn has embraced his role as a hero in disguise, a job he describes as “in safety”. It will be interesting to see if Dunn has only been fighting against criminals, or if he has met with others with special abilities and an awareness of their roles within the dichotomy of comic book morale. Despite his belief in his abilities, which he refers to as feelings, Dunn has kept a low profile: his rain poncho gives him a spectral appearance that allows him to stay in the shade, instead of existing in the same light as the comic book superheroes. The price told him about him. However, given his role as “protector” and the emergence of others with skills, it will be fascinating to see how Dunn evolves throughout the film and if the world can embrace him and give him a nickname that honors his heroic efforts.

Breakdown of the fall film: the best films of the future in 2018 | Breakdown of heat vision
Dunn’s enemy, Elijah Price, also known as Mr. Glass, reveals that he has been waiting for the world to see that they exist. While the trailer does not provide many tips on his master plan (and you know he has one), he positions his meeting with Crumb, since the bad guys come together. If Unbreakable and Glass were two parallel stories originating superheroes and supervillains, Glass is the sequel in which the villain returns more powerful and with a second villain in tow, and the hero faces the loss of everything. It seems that Shyamalan is not only playing with the conventions of comics, but also with the sequels. While the comics and the sequels of superheroes usually make us wait for a result where the hero wins, the fact that it is titled Glass gives us reasons to pause. If there were superheroes and villains in the real world, who would be victorious?

Kevin Wendell Crumb, also known as the Beast, seems to have continued his kidnapping crimes of young women, which presumably leads to his meeting of Price and Dunn. Several new personalities are also revealed in the trailer, which will create even more the feeling of unpredictability that worked so well for Split. We can glimpse several sequences of action in which Crumb confronts Dunn, but we also witness what may lead to a more interesting revelation when his former victim Casey Cooke meets him, apparently pleading with him. Perhaps, Casey, through his empathy instead of Dunn’s strength, can save Crumb and offer a better result in which he will finally fall into the spectrum of heroes and villains.

While the marketing of the film can naturally focus on Dunn, Price and Crumb, the other trio of the film, Casey Cooke, the son of Dunn Joseph (Spencer Treat Clark) and Price’s mother (Charlayne Woodard), can play the most important role in establishing the future of this world. Much of the canon of comics focuses on the legacy, those who pick up the torch of the hero and the villain and continue the fight. Casey Cooke, whose name is alliterated as David Dunn, can position himself as a companion and eventual superhero to Robin. The fate of Joseph Dunn may not be as clear, as seen in a comic book store, with neon signs reading “Heroes” and “Villains” displayed on his head at different points, preparing the character for an inevitable decision. Price’s mother, who has remained nameless, is also in an interesting position, since many superpowers are inherited. Maybe Elijah’s mother has an intellect similar to the level of genius that could establish her as a mentor similar to Casey’s Professor X? It is said that glass is a conclusion, but at the Split box office, the eternal nature of the comics and the innuendo that Shyamalan seems to be falling, perhaps the biggest twist of this film reveals that this is just the beginning.

Glass will be released in theaters on January 18, 2019.
